[2016 CSA Week 19]
Some new fall veggies are coming at you this week; parsnips, turnips, and leeks.Roasting is a great way to cook up these veggies. You can always coat them in a little maple syrup (which we have for sale), salt and pepper to give a little bit of extra pizzazz.
The challenge is to clean out your refrigerator over the next week, because we'll be giving out a big share for the final pickup. Many of these fall vegetables will keep for a long time, and we'll include some tips on how best to store certain items. Hopefully it will tide you over for a couple weeks, and help buffer the sadness that accompanies the end of another CSA year.
Speaking of the end ... now is a great time to give us feedback. You can email us, tell us in person, or we'll put a box in the barn for anonymous comments. We're the kind of people who hate to fill out surveys -- there are so many these days -- so we won't saddle you with that. But we do appreciate feedback. It helps us get better each year. And while positive comments are nice to hear, it's the more critical ones that we find most helpful.
This week's share...
- Watermelon Radish
- Peppers and eggplant
- Squash of some type
- Herbs/Sorrel (sorrel is very lemony and great paired with fish)
- Green Tomatoes
