The veggies have been loving the rain and sun lately (so have the weeds but we won't talk about those). The summer squash and zucchini are starting to come and and they are beautiful. The cucumbers in the high tunnel are loaded with blossoms and are pumping out a decent amount of fruit. I love the juicy, sweetness of the cukes right off the vine, so does George the farm dog. I have had to chase him out of there with a cuke in a very drooly mouth. I swear he is smiling.I guess the cucumbers are a real summer treat for all. Our potatoes have sprouted and the tomatoes are growing like gangbusters. Time to really be on the lookout for the nasty potato beetle. Keeping their population in check early on really helps.
Wednesday we are thrilled to have Traci from Fresh Roots Nutrition stopping by the CSA pick up from 5-6. Stop by and let her share her expertise and fresh ideas for using our veggies. Saturday folks are welcome to swing by, but please keep your veggie pick up for the weekend. Traci is kind enough to offer an email version of her recipes if you would can't make it at that time. My mouth is currently drooling from the ideas she has to share.
